OBTAINING A MARRIAGE LICENSE

  1. You must get a Marriage License from the County Clerk’s Office (Wayne County Clerk). 

  2. Decide if you would like a formal wedding, an informal meeting or anything in between. Our services can range from a simple meeting at a coffee shop, a ceremony at a local park or at a home.

  3. Contact our service.

  4. We set up a location, day and time to meet.

  5. Find two witnesses over 18 years old to sign your marriage license at the ceremony. (Or discuss our services providing witness for you.)

  6. Decide if you would like to recite your own vows or we will provide some for you. (Various options will be available for you to choose from.)

  7. We meet and perform your ceremony.

  8. We fill out and sign all 3 copies.

  9. We return two of your licenses to the County Clerk the following business day.

  10. After we return your licenses to the County, you will be able to purchase your Marriage Certificate from them (The County will take approximately a week to process the license). The Certificate will be your official “proof” that you are legally married. You will use the Certificate to change your name or for any other legal purpose.
